Zion to sync with the latest tonight...

Will be syncing Zion opensim to the latest build tonight, late CET hours (around noon-3pm PST).

I'll try to make the downtime as small as possible - so if you can not connect right away - retry after after some 15 minutes...

(not sure how much from the existing stuff in-sim I will be able to preserve - but as per disclaimer... this is very very alpha :)

Update: the upgrade passed ok. I think even most of the stuff survived. Very good!

As a side effect - there is now also parcel music, at least on the central parcel. On the others I did not bother to check...

Oh, another side effect - everything that is said in the central parser, now is echoed on IRC in efnet's channel #opensim-regions... As usual - thanks to Michael for the code... It's still raw but it works. :)

Hello, I realize this post is over a year old but hope you might still be watching it. :)

I am currently running OpenSim in standalone mode on Ubuntu 8.10 and was wondering how to upgrade my current OpenSim install to the latest version. Is this relatively simple without blowing away everything in the current four regions (Inventory, Terrain, Prims, etc)? I tried going to the links you listed in the post but they are not active. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

yeah I am watching all my posts :)

i think maybe a possible way might be
to export into XML and then reimport into the new version (careful with running it in a different directory, so you do not make any irreparable damage!:)

I'm a bit away from the mainstream opensim development lately - I've started my own port - in pure C, very minimalistic features...

Stay tuned to http://cosimus-news.blogspot.com/
if interested..

Hey thanks for the reply. Well I guess some more experimentation is in order. :)

I am very interested in your minimal port... does it support hypergrid by chance?

no, at the moment it's at a very early stage :-)

But if it is of any indication, I resumed the activity on it after a long break, precisely due to the fact that hypergrid code is in opensim trunk. :-)
